Karnataka Maritime Board functions under the able Leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of Karnataka as the Chairman & Hon’ble Minister for Fisheries, Ports and Inland Water Transport, Government of Karnataka as the Vice-Chairman.
The 10th meeting of the Board was held to deliberate upon and expedite the subjects pertaining to the Ports and Maritime sector of the state in presence of all the stakeholders from various departments of the State and the Central Government.
The meeting took place on 16.01.2024 at “Krishna” – Hon’ble Chief Minister’s official residence at 5:00 pm. Shri Jayaram Raipura, the Chief Executive Officer of Karnataka Maritime Board welcomed the members of the Board and apprised of the agenda points of the meeting. CEO, KMB informed that Karnataka Maritime Board is planning to undertake various port upgradation, maintenance and modernisation projects in the upcoming year. Further, the Board is also focusing upon the augmentation of cruise tourism infrastructure and development of inland waterways in the state. The Board discussed the operationalisation of a Maritime Training Centre in Mangalore which shall enhance the skills of the youth in critical areas of maritime industry and further generate employment.
The representatives from Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW), Government of India were present in the meeting and the 26 projects approved under the Sagarmala Scheme for the State of Karnataka was discussed. It was further informed that expedited implementation of all the projects approved under Sagarmala is underway and CRZ clearance processes have been fast-tracked under the new Government.
The Board noted and appreciated the prompt actions undertaken by the Karnataka Maritime Board towards the State Budget announcements by the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of Karnataka.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the Hon’ble Chairperson and the Hon’ble Vice-Chairperson.
