KMB CEO visit to proposed project sites in Alamatti, Herakle villages

Vijayapura: Under the ambitious project of the Central and State Government, the Sagarmala Project, a proposed project in Almatti and Herakal villages that will complement tourism and benefit the local people, will be developed, said Jayaram Raipur, Chief Executive Officer of the Karnataka Water Transport Board.

He inspected the feasibility of the proposed project sites in Alamatti and Herakal villages of Vijayapura and Bagalkot districts, inspected the land acquisition and water transport utility of the project, and visited the fish farming site proposed to be taken up on 25 acres of land downstream of the Alamatti dam.

He said that if tourism is developed through waterways in the district, the local people can get various economic benefits.

If tourism is developed through waterways on the river banks, it can attract a large number of tourists. In addition, the local people can get various economic benefits from this project, he said.

If this project is developed, tourism activities will develop by providing opportunities for tourists and residents of the surrounding area to enjoy water-based sports, said Jayaram Raipur.

He said that it will help in developing the capacity to open industries in this area with other support such as boat/ship construction, boat yards and related equipment manufacturing.

He said that the tourist destinations in the surrounding districts are on the UNESCO World Heritage List and if infrastructure is provided for the development of the waterway, a large number of tourists can be attracted every day and the government can earn income.

Krishnabhagya Jal Nigam Limited Superintendent Engineer Hiregoudara, Executive Engineer Doddamani, Assistant Executive Engineer Chalavadi, Karnataka Water Transport Board Assistant Executive Engineer Panduranga, Kulkarni and others were present on the occasion.
